We just landed in CHINA! Let me start by telling you how our flights went.
As you all know we spent Monday night in Hartford and got up really early to
go on our first flight to Newark, New Jersey. The airport is the thing that
was freaking me out the most because I didnšt know what to do going through
security. It didnšt go as badly as I thought it would. We got on the plane
to go to Newark and it was a very tiny plane. It turned out to not take as
long to get there as we expected. I was getting kind of anxious when the
plane lifted off but from then on it was fine. We arrived in Newark about
7am. Our plane to Beijing didnšt leave till 12pm, so that meant we had 5
hours to kill! Throughout those 5 hours we all just walked around and went
into the different little stores. We also took some naps, played card games,
and grabbed a bite to eat. It was so tiring that we all kept looking at our
watches and saying how everyone thatšs in school right now is just arriving
while wešve been up for 5 hours. Well we made it through that and now all we
had to do was make it through a 13-hour flight!
As we were walking toward the plane to Beijing all I could think
about was how big this plane is and that we have to go 13 hours cramped
together, I didnšt even know if I would be entertained for 13 hours. But as
we got on it, it wasnšt that cramped and we had TVšs where we could watch
movies, play games, and listen to music. We were all seated together for the
most part and when we could take off our seatbelts we were able to get up
and stretch and look out the window. We got to see the ice caps and the
North Pole. It was so amazing Išve never seen anything like that before. We
were on top of the world at one point and when you looked out the window it
was just blue there was really nothing you could see. But saying that you
were on top of the world is the most exciting thing in the world. When they
gave us our food it didnšt seem bad when they said it but when you tasted
it, it gave me a stomach ach. Some of us got a lot of sleep on the flight
but others were wide-awake for 24 hours. At times some of us didnšt have
anything to do and were getting bored but we occupied ourselves with games,
movies, or reading. Then as we got closer we all started getting more
excited, you could tell the difference in the air as we arrived. When we got
off the plane, we went to go meet our travel guide named Cindy. She is very
nice and took us out to dinner. The food was fantastic, we all needed some
real food in our stomachs other than the food on the airplane. We all were
very quiet at dinner because we were jet lagged. But the jet lag was worth
it because were now in BEIJING, CHINA!
