2005 CHINA TRIP - DAILY DIARY

04/13/05 - Evening

Acrobatics Performance
by Kate Henkle

We went to an acrobatics show this evening; everyone's jaws dropped.  Wyatt's eyes were larger than anything I've seen.  We couldn't stop saying, "Oh my god", "Look how strong they are"  "How does her body bend like that?".  It was incredible.

It made me sad I don't do gymnastics any more, but also I was excited because I understood the strength, balance, flexibility, and endurance it takes.  Nothing keeps my attention more than a show like this.  The colors, the music, and the costumes: amazing!

Another thing that amazed me was the audience.  It was very different than an American audience.  They just clapped.  No one yelled or whistled.  It was much quieter so at first it seemed like the audience wasn't enjoying it, but I soon figured out they just do it differently

Before the acrobatic show we had diinner and the birthday girl got a wonderful Chinese style cake she shared with us all. We also were served "long life noodles" a Chinese traditional birthday food.

The next day we visit Tiananmen Square the Forbidden City, and Beijing School #8
