2005 CHINA TRIP - DAILY DIARY

Lijiang | Snow Mountain | Yak Meadow | Leaping Tiger Gorge | Dragon Pearl Lake

4-21-05: Snow Mountain and Yak Meadow

We knew we were nearing Lijiang as we spotted mountains from our airplane window.
Then as we got closer to landing we spotted the huge expanse of rice paddies and other crops.

The Old Town is part replicated but much is
made up of old style homes of the Naxi people,
the minority tribe that lives in this area.
Our Inn was in the old style of architecture with many small courtyards surrounded by series of rooms.

This is our courtyard.
Outside our courtyard Justin walks towards the front of the Inn where we're meeting for the day.

Life is relaxed and easy here. Noel and Simon are
writing in their journals and reading in the sun. It

is a relief to be out of the city.

Here's a fun way to get back to our rooms,
invented by Wyatt and Ryan.

From Chris's window she saw this woman working a community garden plot. Even though part of Lijiang is
very much a modern city the old ways are maintained.
