Ms.
Brooks teaches Web Design, Digital Photography and AACE (Asian-American
Cultural Exchange) at TVHS. She teaches middle school Art and
Information Technology at Twin
Valley Middle School (where she is also the webmaster). Ms.
Brooks has been an K-12 art teacher for over 25 years in southern
VT, and has taught many adult education and college courses as
well. She currently teaches both technology and art classes for
Community College of Vermont and educational web design for Marlboro
Graduate Center. She has created a series of courses for teachers
learning technology, and has mentored many teachers in Southern
Vermont in creating their own web sites for educational purposes.
The
Twin Valley High School web site has been redesigned by her Web
Design class of '05, and she continues to oversee the role
of Webmaster during second
semester, while teaching Asian-American Cultural Exchange class
to a group of TVHS and Brattleboro Union High School students.
This is a hybrid course, part online and part face to face, with
a travel component involving a 3 week trip to China in april of
2005. Students learn to make web pages of their family, friends
and daily lives in the US (to be viewed by their Chinese peers),
research about China, and study Chinese before traveling to China
in April of 2005 as cultural ambassadors to the schools of Kunming.
The AACE
web site houses current student work and a trip "diary"
in pictures and text from the 2004 class.
Lisa
Brooks is an artist as well as teacher, showing locally at Kaos
Gallery and being represented at the March Windham Art Gallery
show of local art teacher work. She is a founding member of Artwimmin,
a women artists' group. She has taken workshops with a variety
of well known contemporary artists such as; Aviva Gold, Sas Colby,
Tory Hughes and Phoebe Flory. She and her husband, Tim Dalton,
are currently building an art
studio on their property in Halifax, VT. They have two grown
children. |
