Zhou Dynasty: Chinese defeated by armies from Zhou. Border created around 9 small regions
Great Wall sections built alone as early as Spring Autumn Period
Lao Tse's life (many different date possibilities)
Over 1.8 million people sent to build a section of the wall (Nanhou to Shanxi)

716-907 A.D. Tang Dynasty (Lion Dance at its peak)
951-960 A.D. The Lion Dance's Tai Pin Melody Composed (during Chow Dynasty)
960 A.D. During the Song Dynasty when earliest known theatre appeared.
1270-1368 A.D.   Yuan Dynasty,  during which Chinese Opera experienced its "golden age"

Yuan Dynasty is started and supports foot binding for all women
Mongolians invaded China and set up the Yuan Dynasty
Liu Fu Tong devised a plan to overthrow the Mongolian Run dynasty, and the Yuan Dynasty is overthrown

1927 A.D.   Communists attempt a coup to overthrown nationalist government and fail.

Communists win the civil war and the nationalists flee to Taiwan.
Marked restriction on all religions, including Taoism
1958 A.D.   Great Leap Forward is instituted. This campaign forced peasants to work to hard and then allowed the government to take too much of the crops. 30 million people died of famine as a result. 
1966-1976 A.D.   The years of the Cultural revolution when arts, such as opera, were limited to plays only reflecting the "New Society".
1966 A.D. The Cultural Revolution is started after Mao encouraged young people to revolt against the ruling class. Hundred of people labeled as pro-capitalists were killed.
1974 A.D.
1976 A.D.

Local farmers find Terra Cotta figures while sinking a well
Mao dies. The Cultural Revolution ends.
