TRIP DAILY DIARY: ASIAN-AMERICAN CULTURAL EXCHANGE

04/27/04 - 04/27/04 - TUESDAY FLY TO BEIJING; TUESDAY NIGHT: HAIRCUTS

Wednesday evening we walked over to the DVD and CD store. On the way some of the girls got inspired to get haircuts.

Asa was first and hers probably took the longest.
Her hairdresser did a great job and loved
working on her natural red hair so combing it out
took him half an hour!

We had so many people wanting cuts that they called in another guy to help out. We called him Fabio, after the guy with the flowing hair who models on the romance novel jackets in the US.
Notice Andy patiently waiting at the end of the row? He sat with us for three hours while everyone got a new do.

The Chinese hair washing technique is to apply shampoo to dry hair, work it in forever, and then rinse it, in the sink, under running water.

Fabio gave Erin a trim and spent a lot of time blowing and brushing her hair to get it how he liked it.

Sarah went from hair down to the middle of her back (and always pulled back into a pony tail), to this great shoulder length layered look. Awesome!!

Mary and Lisa, not to be out of the loop totally, both got manicures.
Much needed relaxation after two weeks on the road!
