TRIP DAILY DIARY: ASIAN-AMERICAN CULTURAL EXCHANGE

04/27/04 - 04/28/04 - TUESDAY FLY TO BEIJING; WEDNESDAY - SUMMER PALACE, WEDNESDAY NIGHT: ACROBATIC SHOW

The show was called Reverie, and the "plot" was about a little girl's fantasy.
Contortionists doing the unbelievable! And a bike-riding tight rope walker.

This may be hard to believe but all these women are on one bike!
The plate twirlers managed all kinds of contortions while keeping their plates moving at all times.

Steve was in his element when chosen from the audience to come on stage and clown with the clown. Meanwhile the apparatus was being set up for the gymnasts.
The group of Russian young men tumbled, flipped and dove across the stage in this routine. The student acrobats are from all over the world although most of the men are from Russia and the women are from Asia and Russia.
Fei also was chosen to help out on stage before the acrobats did their finale pole number.

Can you imagine four people rotating this ring around the stage? There were four or five of them twirling at once!

Balancing umbrellas while contorting was another act.

Here they are in their final pose. Note the
guy in the middle who is spinning from a
strap in his mouth!
Andy took the AACE students backstage to meet the acrobats and we took this photo to document this truly international event!
